Dukes Barn Residential 2010

We are now approaching the last day of our 2010 residential at Dukes Barn, Beeley, Derbyshire. Throughout the week, the children have been split into groups - each group has been abseiling, caving, climbing, canoeing and have visited Chatsworth House. There have also been some on-site activities such as archery and obstacle courses. We have had a fantastic time and have been incredibly lucky with the weather, which has been fine and dry all week.

Here are some quotes from some of the children:

John: "I miss my kittens! It's great we are allowed to come here."

Jacob: "The food here is fantastic! Yesterday I had a waffle"

Christopher: "The caving was good fun but really cold."

Leon: "The beds here are really weird as they are glued to the wall and I keep banging my head."

Rebecca: "Jumping in the lake was fun. We all got drenched."

Rachel and Hannah: "Caving was cool and amazing. It was really cold - we turned off all the lights, then put our hands onto the rocks and walked around."

Alexander: "We climbed up a cliff face and you had to put your feet and hand in cracks. It was really hard - nothing like a climbing wall."

Katie: "On Tuesday night, we all wrote our postcards to our mum and dads."

Hannah: "In archery, I got a bulls-eye!"

Jake: "In the weasling activity, you had to fit through lots of tiny gaps in the rocks."

Mark: "Th canoeing was great but the water was freezing. Me and John both got very very wet!".

Tilly: "On the lake, we stood on the edge of the boat and bounced up and down to make a see-saw. We made a pirate ship with our rafts and Mark the instructor made us walk the plank!"
